Overview
Directory pages display collections of Person Profiles based on the criteria you configure.
Unlike Person Profiles, directory pages do not contain profile information. Instead, they automatically display matching profiles from the site’s profile library.
The UMKC Global Framework provides two directory templates, each intended for a different purpose.
Directory Templates
Profile + Initial Index
Use Profile + Initial Index when creating a new profile library for a website.
This template creates the initial directory structure, including:
/profiles/
indexThe generated folder may be renamed or moved as needed to fit the site’s navigation and information architecture.
This template should generally be used only once when establishing a site’s profile system.
Directory
Use Directory to create additional directory pages after the profile library has been established.
Common uses include:
- Faculty directories
- Staff directories
- Department directories
- Program directories
- Moving directory listings outside the
/profiles/folder
Examples include:
/directory/faculty
/directory/staff
/academics/biology
/about/leadershipEach Directory page references the existing profile library and displays matching profiles based on the selected configuration.
