Overview
Changes made in Cascade are not visible on the website until the affected assets are published.
Depending on the type of change you make, you may need to publish:
- Person Profile
- Directory Page
- Both the Person Profile and Directory Page
Understanding which assets require publishing helps ensure that updates appear correctly throughout the website.
Publishing a Person Profile
Publish the Person Profile whenever you update information displayed on an individual’s profile.
Examples include:
- Display name
- Headshot
- Position titles
- Biography
- Additional biography sections
- Email address
- Phone number
- Office location
- Pronouns
- Résumé or CV
- Profile links
These changes affect only the profile itself and do not require republishing the directory page.
Publishing a Directory Page
Publish the Directory Page whenever you change the directory’s configuration.
Examples include:
- Directory Listing Title
- Profile Type filters
- Directory Listing Subset
- Other directory settings
These changes affect how the directory displays profiles.
Publishing Both
Some changes affect both the individual profile and one or more directory pages.
After making any of the following changes:
- Profile Type
- AU/Division/Office(s)
- Sub-Directory
publish:
- The Person Profile
- Every affected Directory Page
This ensures that both the profile and any related directory listings display the updated information.

Troubleshooting
My profile updated, but the directory did not.
The Person Profile was likely published, but the affected Directory page was not.
Publish the Directory page and verify the profile’s organizational fields (Profile Type, AU/Division/Office, and Sub-Directory) are configured correctly.
My directory page still shows old information.
Verify:
- The Person Profile has been published.
- The Directory page has been published.
- The profile matches the directory’s configured criteria.
- The browser cache has been refreshed if necessary.
Best Practices
- Publish changes as soon as editing is complete.
- When making organizational changes, publish both the profile and any affected directory pages.
- Verify updates on the live website after publishing.
- If multiple directory pages reference the same profile, remember that each affected directory page may require republishing.
