Automated Publishing

Modified on Mon, 13 Apr at 11:28 AM

If you need a page to automatically publish (typically a page with a News Feed) you need a Publish Set.

A publish set is designed to automatically publish content to either files, folders or pages.

In a specific website, go to Manage Site > Publish Set. Note: Some sites already have a Publish News publish set.

Creating / Editing a Publish Set

Under Manage Site > Publish Set > Add > Publish Set

  • Name (required)
  • Parent Container (required, opt selection)
  • Files
    • Select individual files (images or documents) that need published on a schedule
  • Folders
    • Select individual folders, Posts would be common.
    • Do not select a large amount of folders if you do not need to publish that specific directory.
  • Pages
    • Select individual pages, typically a root level index, or others. Generally pages that include a news feed at this time.
    • Do not select pages that are included in a folder
  • Scheduled Publishing
    • Check the box for "Publish on a schedule"
    • Select the appropriate destinations, or select "all enabled" - All Enabled will send to staging and production.
    • Select the frequency - Daily or Selected Days (in most situations) is enough. Hourly should only be used for specific use cases. Time of day should be off hours when publishing is not needed by a staff or faculty member and is set to be published on Central Time hours.
  • Notifications
    • Not required, but could be helpful if errors appear.

Click submit to save and you've successfully edited or configured a publish set.
