Resolving Missing or Duplicate Page Titles

Modified on Mon, 13 Jul at 2:57 PM

What is a page title?

A page title identifies a webpage in a browser tab, search engine results, bookmarks, and assistive technologies.

Every page should have a unique, descriptive title that helps visitors understand the content before opening the page.

DubBot reports issues when a page title is missing, duplicated, or does not adequately describe the page.

Why are page titles important?

A meaningful page title helps:

  • Identify the page in browser tabs.
  • Improve search engine results.
  • Support visitors using screen readers.
  • Differentiate pages with similar content.

Common page title issues

DubBot may report one or more of the following:

  • Missing page title
  • Duplicate page title
  • Generic page title
  • Page title that does not match the page content
